At the beginning of the pandemic we saw the devastation Covid -19 was unleashing on our community as many of our loved ones were key workers. This meant that many of us couldn’t just ‘work from home’, disappear to our private islands or even seek some form of shelter. Many still had to show up for work with limited/minimal PPE as bills and rent still needed to be paid. BYP Network are solution focused. When we saw the plight our community faced, we were compelled to do what we could to help ease the suffering of our much valued key workers.
Partnering with an incredible, like minded organisation such as Kwanda made perfect sense as our missions were well aligned. We managed to garner a huge amount of support from our members, raised £27,835 and awarded 276 grants. Read our full report on what we accomplished here. Everything BYP does is centred around community and the betterment of Black people. In such unprecedented times, there were little to no guarantees but by coming together we were able to support each other through this difficult time. Although the fundraiser is over, we will continue to serve the Black community and ensure that every life matters.
